Immensely helpful

The mycalmbeat exercise has helped me immensely. I get access to mybrainsolutions from my employer as part of our wellness offering - so using this app helps me earn 'brain points' on mybrainsolutions.com that help me earn a health credit. I never knew what a difference slow breathing could make! I've taken the recommendation and tried to get at least 10, if not 20, minutes of regular slow breathing into my daily routine. I can honestly attest to this making me a more calm individual overall. I feel less sensitive and reactive to things that would normally cause me to react. I have also struggled in the past with public speaking, and regular training with this app has made a very big impact on my ability to control my stress response even in these scenarios. Now, when I have to give a presentation, I feel like time has stopped for me. I'm able to focus on my audience, and what I'm saying and delivering as opposed to my overwhelming anxiety of being in front of a group. My only request - the audio cues would be great if I could customize them. Thanks mybrainsolutions!

great for calming down before pumping up

I was a little skeptical at first when I was told by a friend to try MyCalmBeat, but those wary feelings soon began to fade as training began to sooth me after a few quick sessions. Before I began training, I tried to do as much research about the 'heartrate variability' they mention so often on their website and through the info section in the app. Apparently each of us has a unique breathing rate that our body calms down the best with, and this is aligned with our heart beat patterns or something like that. I set the breathing bar to a rate (I chose 6 breaths per minute) and begin to practice slow breathing. It helps if you're in a quiet place, otherwise it's easy to get distracted and not get into the 'zone' completely.

One thing I was curious about is how to get your best personal rate. I think they have a calculation product coming out soon (you can ask more about it on their website), so this would help get deeper into the zone with the app. Even without your perfect rate, slow breathing really makes you feel great.

Overall, pretty useful for reducing some quick stress before a meeting or a date. Check it out.
